Sustainability Management
Sustainability Management (MBA)
Sustainable development is considered one of the key societal challenges of the 21st century. We face complex challenges in this regard: Energy costs are rising with potential supply insecurities, critical infrastructures are increasingly stressed and overloaded, i.e., by climate-related extreme weather events. People are increasingly concerned about these developments and are looking for sustainable solutions. Hence, sustainability aspects play a decisive role in buying decisions in B2B and B2C markets.
At the same time, regulatory pressure is rising. The transformation to a post-fossil economy must be mastered, production processes and logistics must be changed, all stakeholders must be actively involved, and progress must be transparently measured and reported.
Can all these challenges be mastered at all? The answer is clearly yes – because our online part-time executive degree program “Sustainability Management” leading to the degree “Master of Business Administration” (MBA) specifically prepares you to meet today´s challenges and to optimally use the resulting opportunities in the future.

Successful sustainability managers need very comprehensive technical and methodological know-how in order to be able to make the “right” decisions in extremely complex and highly dynamic situations and then implement them.
The part-time executive degree program is offered in English and in an online format and comprises a total of 60 ECTS credits. The Master’s degree program combines strategic, methodological, functional and application-oriented content into an integrative profile, and in doing so comprises the three competence clusters “Enabling”, “Managing” and “Transforming”, to each of which three specialist modules are assigned.
In each module, we always analyze the specific management challenges and the resulting tasks on the basis of the latest findings from science and practice and with the most suitable methods and tools. In this way, we gain a “clear view” of the situation, can derive responsible decisions and ultimately implement successful solutions.
The special feature of the MBA Sustainability Management is the structure of the modules, which makes it possible to combine working and studying. It offers a high degree of individual flexibility, both in terms of space and time.
The content is taught in a total of nine modules of 50 working hours each, with 25 working hours of each module being taken in self-study and 25 working hours in live online sessions. Qualitative learning material (e.g. videos, literature, case studies, etc.) is provided for the self-study. During the live online sessions, the focus is then on interaction in the group and discourse with the professors. Lecture times of the live online sessions per module are four Fridays (15:00-20:00 CET) and one Saturday (09:00-14:00 CET).
Further information on the content and the module handbook as well as the current timetable can be found on the website.
