Understanding norms, cultural practices and social formations
The key research priority “Understanding norms, cultural practices and social formations” investigates the diverse challenges of social transformation caused by digitalization, a liberal international order that is increasingly under threat and different variations of globalization. We explore individual patterns of thought, education and development processes, social constellations and cultural practices along with their historic dimensions. This key research priority offers a strong foundation for research projects, ranging from research into human rights at the FAU Center for Human Rights (FAU CHREN) to the conditions, processes and results of human capacities for expressing ideas and taking action as explored through education science, cultural studies, social sciences, linguistics and literary studies. Integrated into teacher training at FAU, this is a cross-sectional topic that makes an essential contribution to transformation in society.
