Full Professor of Religious Education and Teaching Protestant Religious Education
(salary group W3)
at the Department of Didactics. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. The successful candidate will represent all aspects of teaching and research in the area of religious education and the teaching of Protestant religious education. The professor must have experience in empirical research in teaching and learning processes in the context of teaching religious education. We would welcome a research focus in one or more of the three areas of education in human rights, pedagogy of media and digitality, or inter-religious education. Experience in interdisciplinary research with other subject-specific didactics, pedagogy/psychology or theology and in acquiring third-party funding is expected, as is the willingness to establish or expand existing international collaborations. Teaching duties will include educating teaching degree students (elementary school, secondary school [Mittelschule, Realschule, Gymnasium], vocational schools) in religious education and teaching religious education, teaching the social sciences subject of Protestant theology and involvement in school placements. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate closely with the School of Theology, the Center for Teacher Education and the Interdisciplinary Center for Empirical Teaching and Learning Research (IZeLL) at FAU. We would welcome the continuation or continued development of existing offers for the continuing education of teachers of religious education. Innovative research approaches, support for early-career researchers and a method-based approach towards using new teaching and learning methods are expected. A willingness to become involved in supporting equal opportunities is desired.
Successful candidates should demonstrate an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. They should have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and relevant teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are preferred. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. These qualifications may also have been achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as Assistant Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to be qualified to teach Protestant religious education and have completed at least three years working at a school or an equivalent educational establishment. Appointment to the Chair is governed by the currently valid version of the contract between the Bavarian state and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria dated November 15, 1924.

The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a
tenure-track position as Associate Professor of Musculoskeletal Inflammation in Traumatology
(salary group W2)
at the Department of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery. The position is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a full professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. We are looking for a strong research personality with experience in teaching, proven by relevant publications and third-party funding, with a focus on one or more areas of musculoskeletal inflammation, regeneration and/or repair. Experience in international/national research networks is required.
We expect active involvement in teaching and collaboration in the relevant research networks (e.g. Collaborative Research Centers, Research Training Groups, Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research, Medical Valley Cluster of Excellence, Deutsches Zentrum für Immuntherapie) and priority programs at the faculties and Uniklinikum Erlangen. Teaching will be delivered in German as far as possible.
It is expected that the research area will be represented and further developed in both experimental and translational areas and that collaboration with the Chair of Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics will be innovative and cooperative. The professor is also expected to contribute to the Faculty of Medicine’s research focus on infectiology and immunology and/or medical and health technology.

Professor of Computer Science (Applied Cryptography)

The position is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date, either as an associate professor (W2) with tenure track to a full professorship (W3) or a permanent full professor (W3). The associate professorship with tenure track (W2 to W3) is appointed for an initial period of six years. The appointment to an associate professorship with tenure track (W2 to W3) or full professorship (W3) will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. In particular, candidates should have experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Design and analysis of (symmetric and asymmetric) cryptographic systems
- Provable security for cryptographic protocols
- Implementation of cryptographic protocols in the context of embedded systems
- Applications for cryptography in engineering, e.g. cryptographic protocols for building automation systems or automation technology.
The successful candidate will be willing to participate in interdisciplinary collaboration in the Nuremberg Campus of Technology and become involved in degree programs in the Department of Computer Science.
