The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for an
Associate Professor of History of Modern Art in a Global Framework
(salary group W2)
at the Department of Media Studies and Art History at the Institute of Art History. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching whose duties will include appropriately representing the field of European and American art history of the 19th to the 21st centuries in a global framework. Additionally, we expect candidates to have a specialization in Museum Studies and Cultural Heritage, and to be willing to engage in teaching and to contribute to the development of the Department’s profile.
Successful candidates should demonstrate an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. They should have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and relevant teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are preferred. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. These qualifications may also have been achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as Assistant Professor).
The successful applicant should become actively involved in administering academic affairs and in developing strategic initiatives. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.

Full Professor of Applied Mathematics: Scientific Computing (salary group W3)
at the Department of Mathematics. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of Applied Mathematics (Scientific Computing) in research and teaching. The person who will hold the professorship will have relevant expertise in one or more current areas of scientific computing such as development and analysis of numerical methods for problems with partial differential equations. In addition, a high level of commitment to the various degree programs of the Departments of Mathematics and Data Science is expected. A willingness to engage in cooperative research, acquisition of third-party funding, and active participation in collaborative projects is expected.
