Associate Professor of History of Modern Art in a Global Framework
(salary group W2)
at the Department of Media Studies and Art History at the Institute of Art History. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching whose duties will include appropriately representing the field of European and American art history of the 19th to the 21st centuries in a global framework. Additionally, we expect candidates to have a specialization in Museum Studies and Cultural Heritage, and to be willing to engage in teaching and to contribute to the development of the Department’s profile.
Successful candidates should demonstrate an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. They should have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and relevant teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are preferred. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a
Full Professor of the History of Medicine
(salary group W3)
at the Institute of the History of Medicine and Medical Ethics. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by May 1, 2027 at the earliest. The professorship is responsible for managing the Institute of the History of Medicine and Medical Ethics.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. Teaching duties will include teaching medical terminology, and the history, theory and ethics of medicine and dentistry to students of Medicine, Dentistry and Molecular Medicine. We would also welcome involvement in teaching in the degree program in Midwifery Science. The successful candidate must have already gained relevant teaching experience. The professor will be expected to play an active part in establishing a place of remembrance and learning at the site of the former asylum in Erlangen, and to become involved in the Ethics Commission of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität and the medical history association Förderverein Medizingeschichte Erlangen-Nürnberg e.V.
Successful candidates should demonstrate an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards, and are expected to have published a large number of high-quality publications on the history of medicine. They should have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. Interdisciplinary and cross-faculty collaboration is a must. In addition, the Institute of the History of Medicine and Medical Ethics has its own medical collection, which the professor will be responsible for.

Experience in managing employees would be advantageous.

tenure track Position as Associate Professor of Biochemistry Focusing on Molecular Oncology
(salary group W2)
at the Institute of Biochemistry. The position is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to an associate professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with strong expertise and an internationally visible research profile in molecular oncology of solid tumors with an excellent track record of publications, third party funding in this area and national/international collaborations.
The successful candidate is expected to take both an experimental and translational approach to advancing research in molecular oncology, and to become involved in the relevant research networks (collaborative research centers, research training groups, research units) and the key research priorities of the Faculty and FAU. The holder of the professorship has to represent research and teaching adequately. The degree programs taught at the Faculty of Medicine include Medicine, Dentistry and Molecular Medicine (BSc; MSc), and the newly appointed professor will be responsible for teaching the curriculum (predominantly in German).

Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS) is one of the largest institutes of Fraunhofer and renowned all over the world for its research and development in the fields of audio and media technology, in particular audio compression, as well as communications technology, image processing, localization systems and artificial intelligence.
The Department of Data Science (DDS) is currently being established with the aim of carrying out fundamental research in data science in a dynamic and collaborative environment with agile teams who work on pioneering and interdisciplinary research topics.
Successful candidates should demonstrate an excellent academic track record in research and teaching in the field of human centered data science at the highest international standards. This includes, for example, empirical studies on media interaction and quality assessment as well as data compression of audiovisual communication and media data. Experience in data acquisition by means of subjective and objective evaluation methods and the acquisition and evaluation of psycho-physiological data is desired. In research, the candidate should have demonstrated outstanding scientific expertise in the area of catalysis and the development of sustainable processes, as well as have acquired relevant project experience. The professor’s research will focus on the development of new catalysts and adsorbents based on porous materials and their spectroscopic characterization. An additional focus on the evaluation of chemical processes using life cycle analysis is desirable. A willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within the department, as well as with other disciplines of the university, non-university research institutions, and industry, is expected.
