The identity management (IdM) system manages access to numerous services at FAU. The IdM portal is used to activate and manage the University’s services, such as WiFi, e-mail, your FAUcard and the University Library. You can also see the personal data which you have saved (e.g. name, address) here.
The FAUcard is the ID card for all members of the University and has several different functions (e.g. library card, cafeteria, access control systems).
You need to activate your IdM user account to use all FAU services. To do so, you will need your activation letter which contains your user ID and a single-use activation password.
Staff who have an employment contract with FAU will be sent this data automatically by the human resources department, along with their FAU card.
Doctoral candidates will receive this data, along with a staff FAUcard, once they have registered on the docdaten portal. Doctoral candidates will only receive an additional FAUcard for students upon enrolment in person.
International researchers who are carrying out research at one of FAU’s five faculties but do not have an employment contract with FAU and are not undertaking a doctoral degree are classified as guest researchers and will be given this data by their FAU department.
In this video we want to guide you through the activation of the most important services in your IdM account:
