In some disciplines, a habilitation in preparation for a professorship is considered to be an asset, despite appointment to a W1 professorship. If you would like to know more about postdoctoral qualifications at FAU, see this website for additional information.
If you apply for a professorship, the appointment committee of the university you are applying to usually determines whether your performance to date can be considered equivalent to a habilitation if you have not completed a traditional habilitation procedure.
Once you have successfully completed your probation period, you may be awarded the right to teach upon application and with the consent of the faculty.
For more information please contact the Dean’s Office at your faculty.
We offer numerous seminars and events for our postdoctoral candidates, which may also be of assistance and interest to you as a W1 professor. Do you need any specific information about further qualifications? Please do not hesitate to contact us. Please feel free to address any questions and suggestions to Kerstin Puls in the Office of Research Career Development and Graduate Centre.
The FAUprofund programme (Professional Third Party Funding in Research) aims to ensure that young researchers are familiar with the procedures involved in applying for third-party funding. As part of the programme we provide support on this topic and offer you the opportunity to participate in targeted professional development measures for your research career.
