Young researchers who are interested in completing the habilitation procedure should first approach the respective faculty. During the habilitation procedure, they are provided scientific and organisational support from university lecturers and are employed by the University.
As a mentor, one of your duties is to ensure that the habilitation candidate is given enough leeway to carry out their research. As well as providing subject-related expertise and support, you must also be sure to pass on your skills and experience in teaching in an academic setting.
Another basic requirement for a successful habilitation procedure is that all formal requirements of the faculty in question are respected and complied with.
