German National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina)
The Leopoldina is one of the oldest academies of science and medicine in the world. It was founded in Schweinfurt in 1652 and has been based in Halle (Saale) since 1878. Its members include outstanding researchers from all over the world. The Leopoldina was appointed as the German National Academy of Sciences in 2008.
