FAU alumnus Uwe Strübing studied biology and pharmacy in Erlangen. In addition to his professional career as a hospital pharmacist, he never lost sight of his second passion after graduating: music. Since then, he has composed numerous small piano pieces and large orchestral works - including an elaborate festive cantata for FAU's 275th anniversary.

The Executive Board at FAU has a new member: Humboldt professor Prof. Dr. Andrea Bréard has been appointed Vice President Education and will be responsible for the area of education over the next three years. In her new role, she hopes to lay greater emphasis on the concept of “educational integrity”.

How does our brain switch between different behaviors? A current study has now provided the first answers to this key question in neuroscience. Using mice, the researchers investigated electrical activity in a certain area within the brain.
