Siegfried Trotnow (1941–2004)
After completing his studies in medicine at FAU, Siegfried Trotnow worked at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, focusing on reproductive medicine. In 1982, he made a major break-though with the first successful case of in vitro fertilisation in Germany. In the same year, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen was able to announce the birth of Germany’s first test-tube baby, establishing Erlangen’s reputation as a leading location for reproductive medicine.
