We're glad you're here

Once a year, FAU welcomes its international newcomers with a festive Welcome Event: Researchers and doctoral candidates from all over the world are officially welcomed by the University Directorate, get to know the most important university facilities at information stands and get to know each other while having delicious snacks and drinks. Popular surprise: At the end the participants receive a welcome gift.

The events are managed by the Welcome Centre.

Impressions from the Welcome Event for international researchers:

On 29 November 2019 the annual Welcome Event for international researchers was held at the Orangery in Erlangen. After welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr. Günter Leugering, FAU Vice President Research, Prof. Dr. Schwieger introduced the newly founded regional group Franken of the German Society of Humboldtians e.V. (Deutsche Gesellschaft der Humboldtianer e.V.). Furthermore, the central support services of FAU that offer valuable information for the researchers’ careers introduced their work. Together with a small snack the participants could network with each other. As a welcome gift the FAU bags with the FAU gingerbread heart were handed to the researchers. The highlight of this year´s Welcome Event: The FAU bags contained the Playmobil figure of FAU´s founder, Margrave Friedrich of Brandenburg-Bayreuth.
