Stopping by the office of Prof. Dr. Dominik M. Müller, Chair of Cultural and Social Anthropology (Focus area: law tech in global legal cultures)

Each semester, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger visits professors who have just recently joined FAU. At their respective institutes, he gets to know them better as they talk about their research and share what is important to them.

This series serves as a brief introduction of the researcher and allows a peek into such visit by the president.

In episode 17, the president stops by Prof. Dr. Dominik M. Müller’s office. He is in charge of the chair of Cultural and Social Anthropology (Focus area: law tech in global legal cultures) at FAU.

Dominik Müller analyzes the bureaucratization of Islam in five Southeast Asian countries as well as upheaval in legal culture in the age of legal tech and AI.

What he finds intriguing is to examine such social sub-sectors and to identify patterns and connections that go beyond borders.

Before coming to FAU, Prof. Müller worked at Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle (Saale).
