At the office of Prof. Dr. Andreas Kist, Professorship for Artificial Intelligence in Communication Disorders
Each semester, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger visits professors who have just recently joined FAU. At their respective institutes, he gets to know them better as they talk about their research and share what is important to them.
This series serves as a brief introduction of the researcher and allows a peek into such visit by the president.
In episode 16, Prof. Hornegger visits Prof. Dr. Andreas Kist. He holds the professorship for Artificial Intelligence in Communication Disorders at FAU.
Andreas Kist is researching a very fascinating area of artificial intelligence, focusing on communication disorders. It is predominantly the potential clinical value of his work that is important to him.
What he finds very intriguing is how technological progress can impact health care in a major way. It is a great passion of Kist’s to do interdisciplinary research.
Prior, Andreas Kist held a position at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in Martinsried near Munich which is now part of the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence.
To Kist, it is unbelievable that researchers were once able to create today’s basic knowledge without access to current technical tools. .
