A cup with the President – Episode 9: Prof. Dr. Katharina Diehl
A visit to Prof. Dr. Katharina Diehl’s office at the Institute for Medical Computer Science, Biometrics, and Epidemiology (IMBE)
Each semester, FAU president Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger sets out to visit professors who have just recently joined FAU. At their respective institutes, he gets to know them better as they talk about their research and share what is important to them.
This series brings a brief introduction of the researcher and allows a peek into such visit by the president.
In episode 9, the president visits Prof. Dr. Katharina Diehl. She holds the professorship for Epidemiology and Public Health.
Katharina Diehl’s focus lies on the health and the health related risk behavior of youths and grown-ups.
For example, one of her research areas includes society’s risk behavior towards UV light, and our relationship with sun protection.
To Diehl, these topics are fascinating because they are true-to-life, and directly transferable into practice.
Before joining FAU, Katharina Diehl worked at the Mannheim Institute for Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine at Heidelberg University.
