FAU concludes cooperation agreement with National University in Kyiv
Delegation from Ukraine visits FAU sites in Erlangen and Nuremberg
A promising partnership on an equal footing: FAU has established a strategic partnership with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (KNU). The aim of the partnership is to strengthen research in Ukraine and to integrate research from Ukraine into European projects. At the same time, stable, shared perspectives between the two universities are to be created within the framework of long-term cooperation across all faculties at FAU.
The new KNU-FAU alliance is based on FAU’s long-standing Erasmus partnerships with Ukrainian universities. Through the European exchange program Erasmus, scientists, students and staff can study and research at the respective partner universities or establish contacts and share knowledge in a variety of other ways. The subject areas covered by the alliance are already represented across all faculties at FAU.
On Thursday, July 14, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger received KNU Rector Prof. Dr. Volodymyr Bugrov and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kseniia Smyrnova to sign the cooperation agreement at the Erlangen Schloss. A networking meeting at FAU’s Botanical Garden provided an opportunity for a number of Ukrainian scientists and their FAU partners to share ideas and perspectives.
On Friday, July 15, the KNU delegation will visit the Nuremberg Trials Memorial and Room 600 with Prof. Dr. Dirk Holtbrügge, Dean of International Affairs at the School of Business, Economics and Society and Prof. Dr. Kathrin Möslein, Vice President Outreach. Especially in view of the current situation, this place has a special significance for the KNU.
