University election to be held electronically for the first time at FAU

Vote online from 15 to 22 June 2021

The University election for representatives for each of the University’s member groups in the Senate, the Faculty Councils of the five faculties and the School of Theology’s Appointments Council (Berufungsrat) are to be held electronically for the first time in mid June. Students are also able to vote for representatives in the Student Committees and in the Student Council.

In our FAU News, student Sepp takes a closer look at the upcoming university election:

Nominations can be submitted until 4 pm on 5 May 2021 to the Elections Office, Schlossplatz 4, rooms 2.027 and 2.029 or to the Chancellor as the Returning Officer. The relevant forms are available on the website of the Elections Office. The names of the accepted candidates will then be displayed on the Elections Office notice board at Halbmondstrasse in Erlangen and can also be viewed on the Elections Office website, which also includes all the relevant information about the University election: wahlen.fau.de.

You can also cast your vote by post. If you would like to apply for a postal vote, you need to fill in and sign the application for a postal vote included in your polling card. You must sign the postal vote application form and ensure that it reaches the Elections Office no later than 4 pm on 25 May 2021.

The completed ballot papers must reach the Elections Office no later than 12 pm on the last day of the election period on 22 June 2021 so that votes can be counted.

Individuals who are eligible to vote can access their polling card on the internet on the election portal at online-wahlen.fau.de by entering their personal IdM user name and password. Individuals without an activated IdM account will receive their polling card by post.

If you have not received a polling card, please check in the electoral register whether you are entered as eligible to vote. The electoral register is available to view in the Elections Office from 12 May to 17 May 2021. Alternatively, you can send an e-mail or phone the Elections Office in order to have your eligibility to vote checked.

Access to the electronic polling station is provided via the electronic election portal during the election period from 15 June to 22 June 2021. Personal ballot papers are automatically displayed and authenticated after logging on to the election portal.

Doctoral candidates’ representatives election 2021

The election for the doctoral candidates’ representatives at FAU will take place at the same time as the University election. All doctoral candidates can vote for the speaker for their faculty. All doctoral candidates who are registered in the electronic register of doctoral candidates ‘docDaten’ (docdaten.fau.de) are eligible to vote. Please update your personal details by 9 am on 18 May 2021 if you have not yet done so. The doctoral candidates’ representatives election shall be held exclusively as an electronic election. Polling cards can also be accessed via the online-wahlen.fau.de election portal. Access to the electronic polling station is provided via the election portal during the election period.
