About 20 month ago, San José State University and FAU embarked on an entrepreneurial collaboration leveraging the immense research capabilities of FAU and SJSU’s powerful and robust Silicon Valley ecosystem. The result – a custom executive education program delivered by SJSU that has morphed in new and exiting ways. What began as a robust exchange of knowledge and ideas has grown into much more – the commercialization of intellectual property, the formation and incubation of new companies and the book “One And One Equals Eleven”.

Start-up ecosystems have sprung up all over the world, but the original is still number one, in terms of access to talent and capital. Silicon Valley has developed its own culture that emphasizes openness and break-through innovation and inspires start-up scenes around the world.
The book is divided into four overarching sections. The first section focuses on the ecosystem on which a successful start-up is based. In the second section, you will learn about the business, financial and legal foundation that needs to be established when setting up a start-up. In the third part we discuss mega growth mega market opportunities at hand: cybersecurity, nanotechnology, biosensors, printed sensors, blockchain, wave energy, etc. The fourth and final part you will dive into the success stories of well-known companies, as well as start-ups that have the potential to become the next unicorns.
