First glimpse into the universe
eROSITA telescope sends first images
After three months of space flight, the time has finally come: The first pictures of the space telescope eROSITA, which FAU also designed components for, have arrived. Scientists were able to observe the Large Magellanic Cloud with the telescope’s seven X-ray detectors. With eROSITA, astronomers can survey the entire sky, search for hot radiation sources and create the largest cosmic inventory of the hot universe ever seen. They hope to unravel the mystery of dark matter.
