The ‘Holy Alliance’ of 1815, a coalition formed by European monarchs with the aim of ruling their countries according to common ‘Christian principles’, is now considered the precursor of the League of Nations and the epitome of political and religious reaction. The Alliance’s ambivalent history is the topic of the international conference ‘The Holy Alliance’ which is being organised by FAU’s Chair of Church History II and the University of Stuttgart’s department of modern history and will take place at the Orangery, Schlossgarten 1, in Erlangen from 22 to 24 February. The conference is free of charge.

Place and time: Orangery, Schlossgarten 1, Erlangen, from 22 to 24 February
